Where Riding Becomes Progress
ATRC’s Therapeutic Riding program is designed to meet each rider where they are. Through adapted riding instruction, participants work toward physical, cognitive, social, and emotional goals in a safe, supportive environment.
While riders learn the fundamentals of horsemanship, the impact extends far beyond the saddle. Therapeutic riding can help build core strength, improve balance and coordination, support communication skills, and foster confidence and connection.
Lesson Options
We offer both private and small group lessons, with flexible formats to support a wide range of needs and experience levels. Every rider’s experience is thoughtfully designed based on their goals, abilities, and comfort level.
-
30-Minute Private Lessons
Ideal for riders who are just getting started, younger participants, or those who benefit from shorter, focused sessions.
These lessons are structured to maximize time in the saddle. Horses are prepared in advance, allowing riders to focus on mounting, skill-building activities, and a smooth, supported experience from start to finish.
-
60-Minute Private Lessons
Best suited for riders who are ready for a more independent and immersive experience.
In addition to mounted riding, participants take part in the full horsemanship process. This may include catching, grooming, and tacking their horse, as well as groundwork activities before riding. These sessions support deeper skill development while encouraging responsibility, connection, and confidence.
-
Group Lessons (2-5 Riders)
Available in both 30- and 60-minute durations, group lessons are designed for riders who would benefit from a shared experience and have goals related to social interaction and communication.
Groups are intentionally formed by our staff to ensure riders are well-matched in age, ability level, and goals. This creates a supportive environment where participants can learn alongside and from one another.
All new riders begin with private lessons to build foundational skills before being considered for a group setting.
